About Caroline
Dr. Caroline McGugin is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon who specializes in treating breast cancer and benign breast disease and offers oncoplastic techniques including breast-conserving surgery and nipple-sparing mastectomy. She completed her Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham & Women’s Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed her general surgery training at UAB. While a resident, she also completed a research fellowship and obtained her Masters of Science in Public Health with a focus in clinical and translational sciences. Dr. McGugin is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a certified breast surgical oncologist by the Society of Surgical Oncology and American Society of Breast Surgeons. She joined Infirmary Surgical Specialists in December 2019.
Dr. McGugin specializes in the multidisciplinary treatment of breast disease. She works closely with radiologists, pathologists, genetic counselors, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists and plastic surgeons to develop a personalized treatment plan designed to maximize long-term health and minimize side effects.
