Planned Giving
Infirmary Foundation, a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization, benefits Mobile Infirmary and Infirmary Health System. The Foundation inspires charitable investment to preserve the Mobile Infirmary’s tradition of caring, to fuel innovation and medical excellence, and to make possible facilities, programs and services to better serve the healthcare needs of its patients.
At Infirmary Health our mission is LIFE. Infirmary Foundation accomplishes this mission through the execution of the values Leadership, Integrity, Family and Excellent Service every day working in partnership with hospital leaders and supporting the medical professionals who treat our patients. We work closely with community partners and our donors to ensure Mobile Infirmary is the FIRST CHOICE for healthcare in the region.
There are many good reasons for giving. What are yours?
Making a difference. Helping those in need. Fulfilling a moral calling. One of life’s greatest rewards is sharing your wealth with others, and it seems there are as many good reasons to give as there are ways to give. Perhaps you want to leave a lasting legacy or establish a family tradition of giving that can instill your values for generations to come. Maybe you desire to save a little (or a lot) on taxes.
Whatever your inspiration, you’ll get something out of giving back to your community, too. Healthcare touches everyone. Every day physicians and staff at Mobile Infirmary and across Infirmary Health System work miracles big and small. Your investment today ensures we can meet the needs of our community tomorrow.
According to Giving USA, in 2023 Americans gave $557.16 billion to charity, an increase of 1.9% over 2022.
The needs in healthcare are always present as insurance reimbursements don’t cover all the expenses necessary to provide the excellent care our patients expect and deserve. To keep up with the changes in technology and needed facility enhancements, Infirmary Foundation works to build strong relationships within the community and to communicate the ways to get involved. Planned giving is one way, for individuals to make a significant impact on their community and ensure that our region always has access to quality healthcare.
Donation strategies that donors can consider include:
- Donating Appreciated Stock
- Non-Cash Donations
- Donating Privately Held Stock
- Qualified Charitable Distributions
- Charitable Bequests
While this list is not exhaustive, there are numerous ways for individuals and families to achieve their philanthropic goals and help Infirmary Foundation fulfill its mission, LIFE.
Donating Appreciated Stock
An individual may avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciated amount that would have been incurred if the stock were sold and receive a tax deduction for the full fair-market value of the long-term capital gain – up to 30% of adjusted gross income.
Non-Cash Donations
The Foundation accepts gifts of real estate, art, jewelry or privately-held stock.
Donating Privately Held Stock
An individual donor may avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciated amount that would have been incurred if the stock were sold and receive a tax deduction for the full fair-market value of the long-term capital gain – up to 30% of adjusted gross income.
Qualified Charitable Distributions
An individual who owns an IRA or the beneficiary over age 70 ½ can donate directly from an IRA to a charity without being taxed on the distribution. A QCD can be used to satisfy part or all of your required minimum distribution (RMD) up to the QCD limit.
Charitable Bequest
Some donors are more comfortable giving upon their death. Naming a charity in your will or trust documents is another way to help your legacy of philanthropy live on.
