Infirmary Surgical Specialists Cancer Risk & Prevention Program is dedicated to identifying and caring for patients who are at an increased risk of cancer due to family history, personal medical history, genetic factors, and/or lifestyle influences. The program assesses cancer risks involving:
- Breast
- Colorectal
- Other gastrointestinal malignancies
- Cancers associated with known genetic syndromes
Cancer risk factors include but are not limited to:
- Family history of cancer
- Family history of genetic mutations
- Lifestyle habits
- Precancerous lesions of breast
- Dense breasts
- History of adenomatous polyps
The Cancer Risk & Prevention Program provides an in-depth risk assessment, genetic counseling/testing, ongoing surveillance, and management of the patient’s cancer risks. Common risk assessment tools can include:
