Katie Wilkinson is a CRNP with Diagnostic and Medical Clinic. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, she, alongside so many others, has been working to help patients impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in both the clinic and hospital setting.
She recently shared, “My nursing friends and I have witnessed more heartbreak, suffering, & death than any human on this earth should ever have to endure…to be clear, we have all had an opportunity to leave - most of us haven’t…I was probably one of the last [staff members] on the fourth floor to get vaccinated & even more so to be an advocate for it…but I would encourage you all, with upmost certainty to [get vaccinated]… It’s as simple as it sounds - it WORKS. This isn’t up for debate or opinion, it’s straight up cold, hard facts…Working with Infirmary Health during this pandemic will FOREVER be one of the proudest moments of my whole life. I wouldn’t take it back for anything in this world…but we’re getting tired, Mobile, Alabama. We’re running out of steam… The vaccine helps the SURGE. The vaccine helps your hospital…”
She is pictured here with one of her patients Dan McConaghy who, around this time last year, won his fight against COVID-19 after the critical illness required both intubation and tracheostomy. Now his pharmacy, McConaghy Drugs in Satsuma, AL, administers the vaccine everyday of the week.
