Infirmary Health, Cancer Care awarded American Cancer Society grants

Infirmary Health and Infirmary Cancer Care (ICC) express heartfelt appreciation to the American Cancer Society (ACS) after recently being awarded two grants in an effort to support cancer patients in the Gulf Coast community. ICC was awarded a $25,000 Lodging Grant from ACS to help patients traveling far distances for treatment. Additionally, ICC was awarded a $7,500 Community Transportation grant to assist patients with transportation needs.

For cancer patients, lack of transportation creates significant barriers to receiving lifesaving treatment and is known to contribute to disparities in cancer outcomes. Additionally, lodging expenses can present a significant financial barrier to receiving treatment.

Patient support services, such as lodging and transportation grants, fill critical gaps and are aligned with the ICC and ACS goal of improving lives for cancer patients on the Gulf Coast.
