World Cancer Day is February 4

Established in 2000, World Cancer Day is held every February 4 and is the global uniting initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). By raising worldwide awareness, improving education and catalyzing personal, collective and government action, supporters of World Cancer Day, like Infirmary Cancer Care, are working together to reimagine a world where millions of cancer deaths are prevented and access to life-saving cancer treatment and care is equal for all.

Each year, Infirmary Cancer Care raises awareness of this global campaign as a part of National Cancer Prevention Month. Repeatedly, research shows that more than 40 percent of all cancers diagnosed and nearly half of all deaths from cancer in the U.S. can be attributed to preventable causes – things like smoking, excess body weight, physical inactivity and excessive exposure to the sun.

Infirmary Cancer Care stands with our patients through our continuum of care: prevention, early detection, diagnosis, staging, treatment and remission – every step of the way. Call 251-435-CARE (2273) for more information and visit InfirmaryCancerCare.org for more information about prevention, screening and treatment.
