Infirmary Health celebrates ongoing LifeSouth partnership on World Blood Donor Day
World Blood Donor Day is celebrated each year on June 14 and the World Health Organization’s 2023 celebration slogan is “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often.” Infirmary Health understands the vital role that voluntary blood donation plays in saving lives as well as the need for committed, year-round blood donation to maintain adequate supplies and achieve universal and timely access to safe blood transfusion.
Infirmary Health, in partnership with Lifesouth Community Blood Center, hosts regular blood drives on its campuses in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. As is their mission, the quality of Lifesouth’s safe blood supply meets or exceeds the needs of each community served. Their motto, “It takes a whole community to save a life,” echoes the Infirmary Health mission, to treat patients with a focus on LIFE.
Mobile and Baldwin Counties, like much of the nation, are currently experiencing a critical shortage of blood. In this time of emergency need, all blood types are considered vital for donation. Mobile Infirmary and Lifesouth are hosting a three-day community blood donation event on June 14-16 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. in the J.L. Bedsole Rotary Rehabilitation Hospital Dining Room on the 3rd floor of the hospital.
