Infirmary Health expands special care birth centers with addition of Charles “Miles” Harmon, M.D.

Charles “Miles” Harmon, M.D., neonatologist, joins Infirmary Health’s birth center teams at Mobile Infirmary and Thomas Hospital. Dr. Harmon will serve as the medical director of Mobile Infirmary’s nurseries. Together, with George Powers, M.D. and Phillip Gordon, M.D., they will provide advanced levels of care for babies in the hospitals' Level II Special Care Nurseries. As Level II Nurseries, they are prepared and certified to care for moderate to high-risk conditions for both baby and mother.
Dr. Harmon earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed residency with Childrens Hospital of Alabama at UAB. He has also completed a neonatal-perinatal fellowship with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is board-certified in neonatology and pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Harmon has been a leader and educator for the pediatric medicine program at the University of South Alabama for the past five years.
