North Baldwin Infirmary Continues to Earn Leapfrog "A" Safety Grade for Fall 2024, Marking Two Years of Unwavering Excellence as the Only Hospital in Alabama with Consecutive Top Ratings
Bay Minette, AL – December 2024 – North Baldwin Infirmary is proud to announce that it has earned the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade “A” for Fall 2024, a prestigious national distinction recognizing the hospital’s commitment to patient safety and quality healthcare. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade evaluates hospitals across the country on their ability to protect patients from harm and prevent medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections, and other patient safety risks.
North Baldwin Infirmary has consistently earned the Leapfrog “A” grade since Fall 2022, making it one of only 307 hospitals nationwide to achieve this level of continuous excellence. In fact, North Baldwin Infirmary is the only hospital in Alabama to maintain this top rating year over year since 2022. The hospital’s commitment to safety is further demonstrated by its strong track record of patient satisfaction and its emphasis on minimizing risks and improving care outcomes.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is awarded based on an expert review panel that assesses hospital performance in key safety areas. The panel receives guidance from the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality at Johns Hopkins Medicine. In the Fall 2024 rankings, only less than 30% of hospitals nationwide received the top grade of “A,” and North Baldwin Infirmary is proud to be one of only four hospitals in Alabama to achieve this outstanding recognition.
“We are incredibly honored to receive the Leapfrog ‘A’ Grade for Fall 2024, as it reflects our team’s ongoing commitment to providing the safest, highest quality care to our patients,” said Kenny Breal, President of North Baldwin Infirmary. “This achievement underscores our dedication to ensuring that our patients are protected from harm and that they receive the best possible care in a safe, supportive environment.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade evaluates more than 3,000 hospitals nationwide, awarding grades of A, B, C, D, or F based on publicly available data and performance in areas such as infection prevention, surgical outcomes, and patient safety measures.
“We are incredibly proud of our staff and leadership for maintaining such high standards of safety and care. Achieving this “A” grade for multiple consecutive periods demonstrates the dedication of every member of our team in prioritizing the health and well-being of our community,” added Jo Ann Nix, Vice President/Chief Nursing officer
North Baldwin Infirmary continues to be a leader in providing quality healthcare and patient safety, with a reputation for delivering compassionate care and consistently earning high marks for patient satisfaction. The hospital’s ongoing commitment to excellence is reflected in both its outstanding Leapfrog grade and the trust it has earned from the patients it serves.
