Mobile Infirmary awarded The Joint Commission Core Certification for Spinal Surgery

The Spine Institute at Mobile Infirmary, part of the Infirmary Health Neuroscience Center of Excellence, has earned The Joint Commission's Core Certification for Spinal Surgery. This prestigious certification recognizes Mobile Infirmary’s commitment to meeting rigorous standards in spine surgery, as set by The Joint Commission.

The Spine Institute at Mobile Infirmary is a specialized program that provides precise and personalized spine care. The team of healthcare experts focuses on evaluating and treating spinal disorders, while striving to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This commitment is reflected through this certification, awarded after an intensive site visit. During the visit, The Joint Commission evaluated Mobile Infirmary on its coordination of care within its spine programs and its high standards for treating surgical spinal patients.

"We are thrilled to have earned this certification from The Joint Commission," said Susan Boudreau, FACHE, president of Mobile Infirmary. “This recognition underscores our dedication to providing our community safe, effective, and high-quality spine care. We take immense pride in every team member who played a role in this achievement, particularly those who commit themselves each day to the care of our spine patients."

The certification process assessed Mobile Infirmary on several key factors, including safe and accessible facilities, patient-specific therapies, patient outcome data, evidence-based interventions, staff and patient education, and the patient’s involvement in care decisions. The survey highlighted the strong dedication of the leaders and staff across various departments, including nursing, pre-operative care, the operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, rehabilitation, and outpatient clinics.
