At Mobile Infirmary, we are fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteers who play a vital role in supporting our patients and their families. This month, we are shining the spotlight on a special volunteer couple, Robert (Bob) and Lisa Reed, whose commitment has made a lasting impact on our hospital community.

Bob and Lisa serve as patient family escorts in our Atrium, guiding loved ones to visit with patients before and after surgeries, during doctor consultations, and outpatient procedures. Their warm presence and dedication have become an invaluable part of our volunteer team.

The Reeds’ journey to Alabama began when their daughter, Rachel, was recruited to play soccer for Auburn University at Montgomery. After her graduation and a career move into nursing with the U.S. Navy, Bob and Lisa made Mobile their new home.

Both Bob and Lisa are semi-retired from impressive careers. Bob, a former attorney and Superior Court Judge in New Jersey, now offers legal consulting services. Lisa, a retired Detective Sergeant, continues to serve as a vice president of the Alabama Licensed Detectives Association. Their careers have been marked by service, and that dedication continues through their volunteer work here at Mobile Infirmary.

The Reeds are also proud parents of five accomplished children. Three of their children have served in the United States Navy: Robert as an Explosive Ordnance Specialist with JSOC, Jonathan as an Air Traffic Controller now with the Department of Defense, and Rachel, who is currently an Ensign and Navy Nurse at the Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton, CA. Nicholas is an Athletic Trainer with the Milwaukee Brewers and Alexis is a social worker and life coach.

We are grateful for Bob and Lisa’s generosity and the care they bring to our patients’ families. Their story is a testament to the spirit of service that runs deep at Mobile Infirmary.
